Ageing is a normal process of the body in normal people, but a Yogi defies age and logic, he is not a normal human being. Let us understand it by way of an experiment. Count the number of times you breathe in a minute. If your breath count is between 7-8, it indicates balance. 10-20 is moving towards imbalance. Beyond 25 indicates complete imbalance and chaos.
The speed with which you breathe is directly proportional to the speed with which you age. As you breathe in, you inhale oxygen. The prime property of oxygen is combustion or burning. As a result of this process, energy is produced. This process is commonly known as metabolism. Modern lifestyle believes in increasing metabolism to lose weight, staying fit etc. The faster a cell produces energy, the faster it dies and regenerates itself and a new cell takes its place. Every new cell, so generated, is weaker than the previous one. This is called ageing of the body.
More the hyperactivity, the faster the prana (vital force) is consumed and shorter is the life of the cell. That is, faster the body degenerates. Degeneration here means that your senses start becoming weak and ultimately cease to function.

When you do the Sanatan Kriya regularly and in totality, this degeneration process starts to retard. The various life processes such as thoughts, heartbeat and breath-count start to slow down on their own. The doctors at the Indian Medical Association documented this fact in a live experiment where they found the heart beat of a Sanatan Kriya practitioner drop by 15% even during 50 minutes of rigorous asanas without any period of rest. Asanas are not about twisting and turning your body, they are not exercises. Asanas slow down your metabolism and get you into a state of balance. Patanjali Yogasutras define asana as ‘sukham sthiram asanam’, that is, a posture in which you are comfortable and still.
So I think it is safe to quit cosmetic and unnatural ways to attain beauty and glow and instead trust the time-tested wisdom of our ancestors and switch back to nature.
