F IRST things first – Happy New Year! Let's hope so. I've noticed a lot of people saying that 2011 wasn't their best year and that this year is "going to be amazing."
That's the spirit! Positive thinking is what life is all about and is one of the best rules to create the life you want.
Let's be honest, we all have down days, we're human after all, but if you walk around smiling and thinking positively, it makes a whole lot of difference. It may not make a difference to you, but if you smile at a friend; family member or even a stranger it will. Try it!
What about New Year's resolutions? Well, for some, they are a goal; something to achieve to make themselves feel better about themselves. But how many of us stick to them? A few days maybe? A few months? For that I take my hat off to you. A LOT of us don't even last a few days.
If there's one thing you should concentrate on for this year, it should be yourself and your happiness.
What's the one thing you would love to change? Now, let's not be silly and say "my nose" or "becoming a millionaire". Be realistic. When you have that idea or even a few, write them down and put them in an order of priority. Go on…
I'm not a life coach or a power-speaker, but simple exercises like this really can make a difference. You can start to work towards your goals.
Looking at your list, the next thing to do is to figure out the best way to solve each 'issue.' It may be a simple solution, or it may take a bit more work. Either way, you'll see how you may be able to reach that goal, even if it's not within this year.
I believe we live in a society now where everything HAS to be instant. From material goods to our own happiness.
We shouldn't think like this. As the old saying goes, "good things come to those who wait."
Whatever it is you hope to achieve in this year, work at it. Stay positive. You CAN achieve it. Just figure out how.
Remember, this life isn't a rehearsal – It's the show itself!
Happy New Year.
